Coeds’ Underwear to Send ‘Green’ Message

Associated Press

MEADVILLE, Pa. — A group of western Pennsylvania college students are hanging 350 bras, underwear and socks as part of an environmental message.

The environmental science students at Allegheny College in Meadville are hanging out the undergarments as part of their “350 Project” meant to raise awareness about the danger of carbon emissions.

The project represents the number 350 parts per million, the level of carbon emissions the atmosphere can handle before it suffers irreparable damage. Part of the message is that even something as simple as hanging out clothes to dry can be helpful.

The students say they initially planned to hang bed sheets, but had trouble collecting 350 sheets, so they moved to undergarments.

We need to change this to say, “How stupid are you” instead of how Green. This has to be one of the stupidest ideas I have come across thus far in the history of man kind. Someone explain to me, if evolution exist, then it is most apparent in today’s society where the people are de-evolving into stupid animals or could this be the mixing of the nations as for-told in the Bible.

Go read the Bible, do something productive with your lives.

This is a real joke!!!!! The earth’s atmosphere has been changing for millions of year. It will continue to change even after we are long gone.

  3. Hugh Says:

Why the negative comments. What they are doing is a symbolic gesture to draw attention to a real problem. Great going co-eds.

  4. CLYDE Says:

LOOK AT THE MESSAGE PEOPLE, NOT THE UNDERWEAR!! AFTER ALL THEY ARE JUST PIECES OF CLOTHING!! GREAT IDEA KIDS FOR BRINGING AWARENESS TO THIS PROBLEM.

  5. GreenJoyment Says:

I’m sure their intentions were good, but isn’t the message basically “Don’t pollute”??? Isn’t hanging socks and bras and underwear all over the place a form of pollution? (Particularly if they don’t go back and clean it up later?)

Good in concept, but they might have thought this one through a bit more.

  6. Perry Fisher,MD Says:

This is a stupid article. Why give students engaged in such useless activity a platform to stand on? America has ceased to produce intellects, scholars, great men of science, the reason why can be seen in this article as it reflects mens rea of the American scholastic community nation wide

  7. Perv Says:

Are they selling any of them?

  8. Emily Says:

yeah.. that’s pretty much the most retarded thing I’ve heard all day. Along with the comments of people supporting it.

  9. Red Says:

What “scientist” came up with this 350 parts per million figure? Why is everything said about this theory taken as fact? This is crazy.

  10. Jeff Says:

The scale of the carbon fraud is truly frightening.

Good job students you got my support!!!

  13. Dave F Says:

Cute – college kids do know that sex sells, even in the “global warming” news arena. It’s just sad that these brains full of mush have been taught this hoax of global warming and the fraud of carbon dioxide as a pollutant.

There is not only no scientific consensus on human-caused global warming (regardless of what Al Gore might say), there’s no evidence of it whatsoever. Zilch.

Honestly, if you’re so worried about carbon dioxide in the environment – stop exhaling.

  14. Doctor Larry Says:

I’m sure some of the undies were green. Probably some of the students, too.
If you are worried about carbon emissions, don’t exhale.

  15. cory Says:

if doing laundry really increases carbon emissions, then how about committing to creating less dirty laundry by doing away with the underwear altogether? some tree huggers don’t shave, some don’t use deodorant, now we can create less dirty laundry!!! next target: toothpaste. the stupidity of this all, i’ve seen many of these people smoking – which is a definite source of carbon emission.

  16. Nate Says:

This is just stupid. Are you serious. As environmental students you can’t think of something better to do that to hang underwear outside. Can’t you find an oil spill or go to a forest where deforesting is threatening a species or something. Honestly, it’s just dumb. And all that talk bout how we’re screwing up the environment, i think it’s pretty arrogant to think that in the eons the earth has evolved that we can have the sole cataclismic changing hand on it’s fate. The world has been super-heated and super-chilled several times in it’s history, and to think we’re going to have any say in the matter is ludicrous.

  17. USA Says:

    Boycott GREEN!!!
I will NEVER buy or support anything labeled ‘green’!
