Al Gore: Climate-Change Fight Like Battle Against Nazis

Al Gore on Tuesday compared the battle against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis.
The former vice president said the world lacked the political will to act and invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill by encouraging leaders to unite their nations to fight climate change.
He also accused politicians around the world of exploiting ignorance about the dangers of global warming to avoid difficult decisions.
Speaking at Britain’s Oxford University at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by the Times of London, Gore said, “Winston Churchill aroused this nation in heroic fashion to save civilization in World War II.”
He added, “We have everything we need except political will, but political will is a renewable resource.”
Gore admitted that it was difficult to persuade the public that the threat from climate change was as urgent as the threat from Nazi Germany.

The debate is over. How many times have we heard this garbage from Mr. Gore’s mouth? He has been harping on this since the early 1980’s. Global Warming or Climate Change, as they call it now, is NOT a proven fact. They are using computer models like they are some kind of fortune telling machines, implying that they are 100% accurate. And they are not. Global temperatures have actually been cooling since 1998. And we are still using our cars, burning our coal, and trying to live our lives as best we can. But that doesn’t fit the template and it doesn’t control every aspect of our lives. So they discount it. Real scientific, Mr. Gore. But Global Warming is not science, but religion because it believes we are at fault for all the evils of the world and we must be punished for our “sins”. And this belief is not deterred by new evidence no matter what it is.

Al Gore’s been on about this for 10 or 15 years now, and that was before the National Science Foundation did the most comprehensive study with a very broad set of scientists and disciplines and concluded that global warming was a fact.
You can argue he’s overstating his point, but he’s not wrong that the world isn’t yet doing enough about it.

I think Al Gore is right, fighting global climate change is like fighting the Nazis…well, at least fighting the premise that man caused global climate change is an inalienable fact is like fighting the Nazis. So many politicians are bowing down to popular sentiment, willing to subscribe to illogical science and completely overlook hard science that contradicts the control oriented “man caused global climate change” scheme that is overtaking governments. It is like Nazis following Hitler: they thought he sounded good in the beginning, then he sounded illogical, then he made NO sense whatsoever, but by the time they realized it, he had too much power and control which made him virtually unstoppable. Al Gore is right, except he forgot to mention in this instance he IS the Nazis.

If the cap and trade tax ever passes, Al Gore will become the first billionaire from issuing carbon credits from his company. The people that created this bill are all invested in green technologies that this bill covers. Al Gore and others are right about the mild rise in temps but falsely claim such rise is man-made. There have also been a corresponding temp increase on other planets in the solar system that cannot be attributed to man. In other words, the sun’s has been the most likely cause. I say HAS BEEN because the sun is currently in in one of its minimum output phases (lack of sunspots) that has caused temps to actually decrease slightly around the globe since 2001. Those factors are being “conveniently” ignored.
Gore stands to make hundreds of millions through carbon credit trading. His specialty is not so much as a salesman but more of a pitchman who (mis)uses statistics to sell his ideas while counting on the media to maintain the ignorance of the public.

My proposal for reducing global warming- place a muzzle on Nancy Pelosi, Joe “eternal gaffe” Biden, and the entire Demon-cratic party. Mandate that any time a politician rides a gulf stream 5 that they offset the carbon footprint by not breathing for about 7 months… In a country where we have almost 15 million people out of work, an economy teetering on a dollar worth less than a single square of toilet paper, and a president who is committed to giving away 1/3 of our nuclear arsenal, we have to also endure Al Gore’s verbal droppings… Classic!

It is amazing to me how politicians are suddenly experts in economics, physical science, philosophy and social sciences. Jane F is correct that many scientists disagree with Al Gore’s theories. Science has shown that this “Global Climate Change” is a natural phenomena that has occurred throughout time. We The People need to stop accepting the garbage that our politicians give us as ‘fact’ and start standing up to them and discovering the truth for ourselves. “Global Climate Change” is coming, but I fear it has nothing to do with climatology and more to do with sociology. Why isn’t anybody talking about the bill that Obama is trying to get pushed through that will cost us thousands in taxes for the so called ‘greenhouse gases’ that we create?! Pretty soon we will be told, as the Chinese are, that we can only have 1 child. Their reasoning will be due to greenhouse gas from people. The concept of man made global warming is a sham. There is this big energy force which is more responsible, it’s called the sun. In the late ’90’s, solar activity (sun spots) decreased and guess what? The temperatures on earth fell. It is forcast to be this was for the next 10 to 20 years. And guess what CO2 is? Plant food. Have you noticed that since temperatures have risen a bit, that CO2 levels have also risen (not the other way around) and all plant life is greener and more plentiful. Farmers must love it.
“Man Made Global Warming” is just a ploy to take money away from the people who earn it and give it to the people who sit and watch Oprah all day.

It’s amazing that some people can’t muster enough common sense to make the connection between increased solar activity and increased temperatures on ALL planets in our SOLAR system. Global warming (henceforth called “climate change” because the Earth has started cooling again) is nothing more than a scam for people, like Algore, who line their pockets by selling carbon offsets. This may come as a surprise to global warming (ooops), I mean “climate change” alarmists, but the polar ice caps on Mars melt in concert with Earth’s polar ice caps. Actually, these ice caps grow and shrink when the climate of the Sun changes – go figure.
Think real hard about this: The Sun burns more energy in ONE SECOND than all of the energy produced on Earth since the dawn of time. Now what do you think would be more responsible for temperature changes on the Earth… changes in the Sun’s temperature or cow farts?
If people like Algore were unable to profit from peddling carbon offsets, the “problem” of global warming (i.e., “climate change” in Newspeak 2.0) would vanish tomorrow. Truly, there’s a sucker born every minute and they grow up to become Liberals. Meanwhile, Algore is laughing all the way to the bank.

As for the persons who say Global Warming is real, science proves it bla bla bla… I work in a DOE National Lab and the vast majority of the scientist and engineers do not agree with the one side findings of a minority of scientist, except for those who what to run for office or greedy for more stimulus monies.
BOTTOM LINE PEOPLE, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH DATA COLLECTED TO DRAW THE CONCLUSION THAT IT (THE APPARENT WARMING TREND) IS CAUSED BY MAN, AND NOT SIMPLY A NORMAL CYCLE OF WARMING BEFORE A COOLING CYCLE.

OK two quick points
1. Al Gore is obtuse and if a war on global warming exhists he would be the formost war-profiteer (ala Dick Cheney and our current war)
2. Global warming does exhist and all the junk i see in these comments ignores real facts, some even cite actual facts but interpreted in reverse (NASA space temp progect). Global cooling? bologna. We now live in the hottest century of the past 400 years, we have seen an increase in global temps of 1.4C in 20 years (insane) *NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
You can actually see glaciers in MT, and Ice in russia melt via satellite on the order of miles per year (yes miles). You cant argue that fact, plain and simple. look at a sat image of antartica in 1980, then again in 2004…
Denial is the worst way to look at this problem, either help fix it, or plan to adapt

Al Gore has it the wrong way around – again.
First off, he has the relationship between CO2 and temperature backwards – CO2 does NOT drive temperature, it reacts, responds and is affected by temperature – Not the other way around.
Secondly, it’s not the people who are dubious of ‘man-made’ global warming nor certain world politicians that represent them that are the Nazis, it the extreme environmentalists that are the ones trying to force their marxist pseudoreligious ideology and bogus carbon taxes on everyone.
Yes, I call extreme environmentalists like Al Gore “Eco-Nazis”. There is a huge difference between good, responsible and common sense environmentalism and the uber extreme people like Al Gore.

Look up on youtube about the NASA experiment when they locked a man in an air tight container with a FIXED number of plants and had him live in it for like ten to twenty days. They wanted to find out what would happen to the oxygen levels in the environment if the man inside worked out increasing his CO2 output… the results… The plants grew better the oxygen levels stayed the same and the environment stayed the same… Go back an take a biology 1010 call and you will see that plants need carbon dioxide to survive and the more they receive the more plentiful they become!!!! BTW this cap and trade bill if passed will destroy our country jobs will be lost, higher prices to the consumers… It is ridiculous we are even considering this bill… Just look at how fast Australia dropped it.

The planet is not static: the way things are today are not supposed to be the way they were yesterday, much less in a hundred years. The planet…nay, the universe…is a dynamic entity: change is inevitable. Continents sink, collide with others, land becomes magma and forms new lands, animals die and mutate. In Chicago, where I live, we are experiencing the coldest summer in decades. Our 4th of July was the coldest in the last 30 years. June was the 3rd or 4th coolest in the last 40 years. I wish there was global warming. I suspect if the planet really did warm up, it would be a benefit to all, well at least us sun worshippers.
In any event, even if Al Gore and his green wackos were right, it would not justify the destruction of western civilization and the enslavement of man in the name of Gia, which is what the pseudo sage Gore and his mystical environmental collectivists really seek.

Let’s see now…the temperature has been going down for several years, the glaciers are growing, and the polar ice cap grew more last year than in any year since the measurement began. there are a number of questions involved here.
1. Is the world warming? Yes, it is. We are in an interglacial period, and the climate is still warming as the glaciers and ice fields retreat. This is nothing new — I learned it in junior high school.
2. Is man contributing to global warming? The law of conservation of energy seems to necessarily say yes. Muich of the sun’s energy is trapped in organic matter, and we release the stored energy of many ancient years when we burn fossil fuel. That energy has to go somewhere — it doesn’t simply disappear.
3. Does the level of carbon dioxide cause global warming. This hypothesis is challenged by many people. Gore’s film shows that the temperature and the levels of CO2 tend to track each other, but that the temperature rises and falls 200 years ahead of the matching rises and falls of CO2. If CO2 levels rise after the temperature rises, the temperature rise was not caused by the CO2.

There was a team of Obama people speaking to Mr. Cole (Engineer, automotive experience 40+ years, Chairman of CAR). They were explaining to Mr. Cole that the auto companies needed to make a car that was electric and liquid natural gas (LNG) with enough combined fuel to go 500 miles so we wouldn’t “need” so many gas stations (A whole other topic). They were quoting BTU’s of LNG and battery life that they had looked up on some website.
Mr. Cole explained that to do this you would need a trunk FULL of batteries and a LNG tank at big as a car to make that happen and that there were problems related to the laws of physics that prevented them from…
The Obama person interrupted and said (and I am quoting here) “These laws of physics? Who’s rules are those, we need to change that. (Some of the others wrote down the law name so they could look it up) We have the congress and the administration. We can repeal that law, amend it, or use an executive order to get rid of that problem. That’s why we are here, to fix these sort of issues”.

Winter and summer is nothing more than a 120 degree Fahrenheit swing in temperature. Why do we have the seasons? It’s because the earth is tilted 23.5 degrees on its axis relative to the ecliptic. What this means is all this heating and cooling we call summer and winter happens because of the little difference in sunlight any square foot of earth receives as a result of that 23.5 degree tilt. CO2 is a trace atmospheric gas. There are lots of other so-called “greenhouse” gasses; the biggest is water vapor. Go outside on a cloudless night and its freezing cold because all the heat has escaped back to space. If it’s cloudy out, it will be relatively warm. It is ridiculous to think that a trace amount of CO2 is permanently trapping all this heat when water vapor can’t trap it.

It is unwise to discount scientific evidence. The only “scientists” who do not recognize the phenomenon of global warming or climate change are not mainstream or reputable. The overwhelming majority of reputable scientists agree.
Scientists always disagree with each other, and the further evidence resulting from that disagreement is a strength of science. Scientific statements are not opinions, but are based on researched evidence. It is accepted (no, not proven) that global warming is occuring, likely due PRIMARILY to humans using “yesterday’s sunshine” = fossil fuels.
Al Gore presents scientific evidence which he has followed, not produced. No he is not a scientist, but he understands how science works, and is someone famous who can communicate that science and be heard. If he makes money from carbon caps, that doesn’t negate the problem of global warming.
Discounting scientific evidence is unwise and illogical. How about you look at the broader picture with an open mind. Your objections do not change the evidence.

Before you all criticize Al Gore for receiving an absurd amount of money for his energy plan, why don’t you all think of the people in Congress and the Senate that have consistently filled their pockets with “contributions” and gifts from the coal, oil and other non-renewable energy companies. There are a lot of these politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, that have committed these selfish acts and I wanted to make sure that the previous people who left a comment which focused solely on bashing the fact that Al Gore would make, apparently quite a fortune from clean energy, (perhaps a legitimate reference to the potential profits of Gore would add some credibility) realized that politicians have been padding their pockets from the “dirty” fuels for quite a long time. There are two side to every story. I have previously attempted to post comments to this site but, unfortunately, they were censored out. Nonetheless, I find this statement reasonable and not one sided and should not be banned on this site.

The head of the IPCC was recently confronted regarding the “Scientists” on their list who confirm “Global Warming” as a danger to the planet. He was asked how many “Scientists” on that list of about 2500 were climatologists. He eventually admitted something like 20% had had “something” to do with climate. There’s also the fact that many scientists on the list have been trying to have their names removed and the IPCC has not yet complied or removed those names only to reinstate them later.

It would appear from the comments, the majority of people do NOT believe Al Gore’s message of global warming. I suspect we are still emerging from the Ice Age. There ARE numerous glaciers melting in places all over the world, but to say humans are causing it is a bit of a stretch.
We DO bring energy up from deep in the earth and burn it which adds heat to the atmosphere, but heat is constantly migrating into outer space. We are more likely to be heated by sunspots than by CO2. Sunspots have infinitely more energy than, all the fuels humans can burn.
Naysayers should be fair and admit glaciers ARE disappearing. Ignoring that makes them look foolish.
Ignore for a moment global warming. We need to be implementing more alternate fuels because the profits too often end up in the coffers of those who would destroy countries that promote freedom and democracy.
And yes, we need to cease listening to politicians who MAY have less than honorable intentions and think for ourselves.
Drive less, grow a garden, walk more, ride a bicycle, plant trees, move closer to work, work from home.
Buy locally, it requires less shipping and promotes the economy where you live!!!! Farmers markets are great for fresh food and bargain prices.
And yes, the cap and trade is NOT going to good for consumers. Protest it with all your resources are be forced to swallow a bitter pill.

Climate change is a FACT. It’s been happening since our O2 rich atmosphere bloomed about 3 billion years ago. We’ve had everything from the tropical climate during the time of dinosaurs (250 to 65 million years ago), to the theorized “snowball Earth” (that means it was cold everywhere) 600,000 years ago. Anthropogenic climate change (global warming) is a theory used to explain the correlating rise in average temperature and CO2 concentrations. “Stopping” either is a bit like saying you’ll stop a hurricane and would be quite a feat of science. Although slightly higher than our “recent” CO2 levels (hundreds of years), we are still nowhere near the levels reached 65 MYA (still “recent considering Earth is 4.6 billion years old), which were 3X today’s levels. Should we slow our input? Probably. Should we put billions of dollars into “stopping” something we can’t stop and aren’t even sure (the 4-letter “s” word of science) we’re causing in the first place? Sounds kinda silly.

A good book to read about the enviornmental movement and what it’s really about is written by Michail Crichton. “The State of Fear” It really confirmed what I had always suspected. The enviornmental movement FOR THE MOST PART IS ABOUT MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe in being a good steward for the enviornment but these envirnmental organizations must make everyone in the world to the line not just the United States. I strongly feel that the enviornmental movement in the US has contributed to the current economic problems. Companies were forced to outsource because it cost them too much money to comply with the environmental laws. I am a paper maker by trade and have to listen to these enviro idiots all the time. All I have to say to them is try wiping with plastic toilet paper!!!!!!!!!!!

Climate change (cooling, warming) happens over time; it’s natural. What’s NOT happening is a climate crisis. Do the research, don’t just listen to the talking heads. If you do (and if you have a modicum of objectivity), you’ll see that this climate scare is being perpetuated by those that stand to benefit from massive government intervention. It’s being leverage by our politicians as to expand the federal government. It’s not really about the environment anymore. The “science” used to support the alarmist viewpoint is largely hypothetical. There is substantial body of empirical data that contradicts it. Call me crazy, but I’ll take solid empirical data over hypothetical conjecture any day.

CO2 in the atmosphere *follows* temperature change… it lags behind by about 800 years. It does not drive climate change. But the graphs do line up, and on the scale that Al Gore shows you, you can’t tell that there is a time lag.
The sun is a violent, and ever-changing beast. Just research sun-spots. It’s proven beyond a resonable doubt that the sun is the prime driver of the climate. Who would have thought?

I don’t care for Al Gores use of Nazi in his comparison but come on repubs, sticking your head in the sand and saying you don’t see anything is far from intelligent and certainly doesn’t help your credibility. If there isn’t a problem why are the ice caps melting? If this is a normal cycle why do ice rings dating back tens of thousands of years ago not show it? Why has the current (normal?) change happened over such a short time?

Al Gore stated just the other day that the cap and tax bill regulating the emission of what all plants need to live (CO2), and thus limiting the health of plant life worldwide, was an important step towards the goal of “global governance”. That is what this is all about. Do you really think Gore is so stupid as to believe his own propaganda? The real goal of carbon regulation is the slavery of mankind to Gore and his central banker friends. Americans need to wake up. Especially the church, which has been nearly silent on these issues, when they should be the trumpet of freedom for the people and the prophets of doom condemning the global elitists.

Sandy you are unbelievable. You say that that it is unwise to discount scientific evidence then you proceed to break your own rule and discount scientific evidence. You mockingly refer to the “scientists” whose results contradict your precious global warming theory as not “mainstream” or “reputable.” Well these out of the mainstream and unreputable scientists happen to number in the thousands. Give me an example of just one of them whose studies and conclusions you have read. What makes you qualified to “discount” these scientists as not reputable? And as far as Gore “presenting evidence” goes he is only presenting the evidence of the bought and paid for scientists whose results fit his purposes. The bought and paid for scientists are probably the only scientists you are listening to, also, – assumining that you actually do listen to real scientists. And last but not least: why don’t you have a problem with Gore force feeding us a new lifestyle that he clearly and hypocritically thinks that he is exempt from? Now that’s what I call unwise and illogical.

Yes Bobbutts climate change is without reserve a total scam that a few of your profiteer leaders such as Gore are profiteering from. And it is you that will obediently finance Gore’s windfall profits in the form of higher electricity bills, more expensive gas and everything else because it all has energy inputs. And what benefit will we gain from from this fleecing of our wages and reduction in our lifestyles? A theoretically miniscule reduction of the global temperature in 50 yrs? How will we be able to know if any effect was had at all? I’m sure that the PrezBO’s and Gore’s of the future will tell us that their plan is working, but how will we be able to measure the results? And the idea that windmills and solar panels will save us is wishfull thinking. They have been working on windmills and solar panels for 50 years. If a quantum leap is to be made in “green technolgy” Gore making hundreds of millions on taxpayer funded cap and trade doesn’t need to be part of the formula.

Should we all aim to good stewards of our resources? Yes. Sadly, Mr. Gore’s lifestyle grants him no credibility in the matter. Laurie David, another climate change activist, flies a private jet between the east and west coast every weekend; because she likes to spend time in different homes. Again, the message may be on, but the tune is off key.
When asking people to make substantive changes to their life, including changes that impact livelihood, credibility and leadership by example are critical. Sadly, the climate change movement has no such leadership. They are overwhelmingly consumerist image peddling phonies. While there may some that exist (I am sure there are), the fact that none come to mind speaks volumes about this incarnation of environmentalism.
Perhaps the biggest tragedy is that many environmentally conscious activists who walk their talk are either overshadowed by or lumped in to the group defined by these self-promoting charlatans. Quite a shame, really.

Carbon Dioxide is just .038 percent of total atmosphere. Global warming is part of a natural cycle – proven by a 25 year old report by a team of international scientists who worked at the frozen Lake Vostok in Antarctica. They took an ice core sample dating back 400,000 years which indicates CO2 levels rise for 21,000 years and then drop for about 5,000 years over-and-over again. This corresponds to the oscillation of the Earth’s axis (the wobble) and shows that CO2 levels follow global warming not create it!
Just as the tilt of the Earth’s axis causes summer and winter, the slow “wobble effect” also causes climate change over a long period of time. Plato called this phenomena the “Precession of the Equinoxes”. We have had cyclical ice ages and global warming periods since the dawn of time, long before Man existed.

One just has to watch the weather man everyday to see just how much science and technology can be wrong or off ratehr. If my local weather man cannot predict with certainty if it’s going to rain in my area in the next day or so with abosolute certainty how can we expect to believe computer models forcasting a global change a decade or two from now?
Look at everything else they failed to see or act on like the tsunami in ‘04 or Katrina.
Some might be getting it right and other might not. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with trying to become more eco-friendly on a global scale. I think that even if polluting the earth doesn’t help it out much it would at least help out everyone else living in it that have to breath it all in or drink it in their water.
To be true, Gore is a freakin hypocrite living the lifestyle that he does. 12,000 sq ft mansion for a man that’s probably not even home 90% of the time? C’mon.

By the way, humans only occupy 30% of the surface of the planet. the rest is covered by water. because of how sparsly populated many areas are, we actually only cover about half of that land with industralize society. Every year volcanoes and natural sources put more pollutants into the air than humans ever have…….

There is more than global warming to consider now – consider that your car is using Oxygen to combust gasoline, the oxygen that is only produced by plant life on the planet. As the planet warms up, this Oxygen gas expands and moves up into the atmostphere, it becomes more difficult for us to get the oxygen we need to live. Also, as we cut down larger swaths of the Amazon rain forest we are cutting the oxygen production of the planet… We might consider compressed air cars that use most of the same engine as the internal combustion car, without competing with us for oxygen…

Any time that I see an attempt to suppress free speech, my suspicions are multiplied. The Socialist’s attempts to control debate, speech, or any other form of resistance (think 2nd amendment) make me think about Joe Stalin and the way he drove himself to power using fear and suppression.

Just for the sake of argument – let’s say global warming is all our fault and preventable (which I doubt). Just what “realistic” alternatives do we have at our disposal to prevent it?? There are millions of cars on the highways, thousands of jet airliners, thousands of diesel trucks and trains. Please tell me how we’re realistically going to replace all of this, AND the supporting infrastructure, and go green???? We’re SO far into debt as it is NOW, before even starting, I just don’t see a “climate altering” alternative out there.

Let’s do the math. Our entire planet uses the same amount of energy as 40 minutes of sunlight. So 40 minutes / a year of minutes = 0.00761% of the sun’s energy, or our planet receives 13,140 times the energy from the sun as we use from all the power plants, cars, homes, industries, shipping, and anything else that uses energy on the planet. That makes our energy use seem pretty small and inconsequential.
The faith in climate change, formally known as global warming, is fading away. The only thing keeping it going is outrageous comments like Al Gore’s, which is the means to his own means and no end.
